Announcing the Awardee of the MRSA Fellowships

The COLING2002 Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the awardees of the MRSA fellowships for student authors holding PRC passports. The excellent pool of applicants were carefully reviewed by the fellowship committee composed of a prominent scholar in Chinese language processing and three COLING2002 program committee members (including the program committee chair). Due to the good quality of all applicants, the Organizing committee decided to add three alternates to the two fellowships. The alternates will receive complimentary student registration and will receive full fellowship benifit if one or more of the original awardee cannot attend the conference. To the applicants who fail to receive awards due to our limited funds, we appreciate your contribution to COLING2002 and still look forwards to meeting you in Taipei.

1.MRSA fellowship Awardees (in order of COLING paper number):
COLING-154 Yao, Jian-min
COLING-384 Li, Xin

Each fellowship grant includes
1) Full regular registration of COLING2002 (including reception, banquet, and excursion), and
2) 5 nights of accommodation (August 25-29, 2002) at the Center of Academic Activities, Academia Sinica.

2. Alternates (listed in order of first, second, and third alternates)
i. COLING-146 Luo, Xiao
ii. COLING-044 Sun, Jian

-Each alternate will receive a complimentary student registration (NOT including reception, banquet, and excursion)
-All three alternates will be automatically considered for the general fellowship for students from developing economies.

All the applicants and their application materials were carefully reviewed by the Scholarship committee composed of prominent scholars in computational linguistics and COLING2002 program committee members. Due to the excellent quality of all applicants, the Organizing Committee decided to add two alternates to the three scholarships. The alternates will receive complimentary student registration and full scholarship benefit if one or more of the original awardee cannot attend the conference. To the applicants who fail to receive awards due to our limited funds, we appreciate your contribution to COLING2002 and still look forwards to meeting you in Taipei.
