Qualifications for Application: [By Developing Economy, we are referring to a country or community where financial support for international scholarly exchange is scarce, and where the living standard does not allow a scholar to self-support such activities. By this standard, we believe that all developed economies or transition economies should be excluded. However, since the COLING2002 organizing committee is in no position to make a judgment of economic status, a one paragraph statement describing the financial difficulties of his/her country/community is required from each applicant.]
Application:
The Scholarship MSRA Fellowship for PRC Student Authors COLING2002 Organizing Committee is pleased to annouce two MSRA fellowships for student authorrs holding PRC passports. These two fellowships are established with a grant from Microsoft Research Academay, Beijing. Applicants must be a PRC citizen who is also currently a registered student. To expedite the visa application process after the fellowships are awarded, the following immediate deadlines are established:
Application Deadline: May 14 (Tuesday, Taiwan Time) For application, please follow all the same application procedures and restrictions for the Scholarship for Scholars from Developing Economies. SIGHAN Student Fellowship SIGHAN, the Association for Computational Linguistics Special Interest Group on Chinese Language Processing, as part of its goal of promoting education in Chinese Language Processing is pleased to announce at least TWO student fellowships, to cover the cost of attending the full-day tutorial in Computational Linguistics and Chinese Language Processing to be offered August 24, 2002, in conjunction with COLING 2002 in Taipei. For information on the tutorials, please see http://www.coling2002.sinica.edu.tw/w-tutorials.html The fellowship will cover the cost of tutorial registration only. Applicants must be students currently enrolled in a degree program, and have an interest in natural language processing or related areas.
